Bond Granted For Man Accused Of Shooting North Miami Beach Cop

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A judge has granted bond for a North Miami Beach man who is accused of shooting a police officer during a raid on his home.

Elton Bandoo has been in jail ever since the February 6th shooting which occurred in the area of Northeast 160th Street and 8th Avenue. It happened when police moved in to serve a warrant. Bandoo came out of his house and fired his gun three times. Two of those rounds struck Officer Lino Diaz.

Bandoo, who was charged with the attempted first degree murder of a law enforcement officer, claims on the morning of the raid, he was awakened by loud bangs and his mother screaming that they were being robbed. He claims he fired his gun in self-defense.
